This is a crucial area as it enables children to make connections between one area of learning and another. Children use their senses to explore and make sense of the world around them. Through a range of creative activities, young children 're-create' their experiences, communicate their ideas and feelings to others, and also think and imagine. We provide opportunities for children to respond to music, movement / drama, painting, drawing, collage, model making, imaginative and role play.
A substantial area is devoted to the Creative Workshop where children can develop confidence in following through their own ideas through choosing from a wide selection of materials and resources.
This area is available all of the time so that children can develop their ideas alongside learning and practicing skills.
Purley Nursery School was inspected by Ofsted on 6 March 2018. We are delighted to say that yet again Ofsted recognised the Outstanding quality of our nursery provision.

The Federation between Purley Nursery School and Christ Church Primary School is now established and is known as the Purley Partnership Federation. A federated governing body is now in place to oversee the governance of both schools.
Purley Nursery School is pleased to be able to offer the new Government Funded 30 hours of free childcare. Parents who think they might be eligible will need to check on the website, www.childcarechoices.gov.uk, the term before they wish to take up their entitlement.
At Purley Nursery School the 30 hours are offered Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 11.30 and 12.30 to 3.30pm term time only (with the option to pay for the lunch period and bring a packed lunch). Breakfast and After School Club are also available at an additional charge. Please come and visit us Monday to Thursday between 9.30 and 10.30 am or 1pm to 2.30 pm for further details.
All 3 and 4 year olds are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery education. In our School parents and carers can buy additional child-care sessions to provide a full-time place between 7.45am and 6.00pm (subject to availability).
We encourage parents to take up their education hours across the whole week wherever possible - 3 hours on a daily basis morning or afternoon - as we believe that this provides valuable continuity for children.
You can pay your invoice for your additional sessions by ParentPay. Please click here to access our Parent Pay page.
