Children are admitted into Purley Nursery School the term after their third birthday (if places are available).
As a maintained nursery school, we follow Croydon Local Authority guidance on admissions criteria (www.croydon.gov.uk)
If we are over-subscribed, children will be admitted in accordance with the following criteria:
1. Your child may be given priority on special medical, social or educational grounds. These applications will not normally be considered as a priority unless accompanied by a supporting statement from a Doctor, Social Worker, Health Visitor or other appropriate education service. You will need to give particulars of a professional who can be contacted.
2. Finally, decisions will be taken on the basis of geographical measurements.
Applications are accepted at any time after the child's second birthday. We welcome parents/Carers to visit the school Monday to Thursday during term time between 9.30 and 10.30 am or 1 - 2.00 pm (no appointment necessary). Application Forms are available at the School.
Places are allocated during March/April for admission in the Autumn term after the child's third birthday and November/December for the Spring Intake.
Children are admitted gradually. This helps you and your child to get to know us and eases the transition from home to school. Parents and carers are asked to stay and support their child in the early days to provide the security their child needs. Children who have attended other nursery provision will also still need time and a familiar adult to help them gain confidence in a different setting with unfamiliar adults.

At Purley Nursery School the 30 hours are offered Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 11.30 and 12.30 to 3.30pm term time only (with the option to pay for the lunch period and bring a packed lunch). Breakfast and After School Club are also available at an additional charge. Please come and visit us Monday to Thursday between 9.30 and 10.30 am or 1pm to 2.30 pm for further details.
All 3 and 4 year olds are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery education. In our School parents and carers can buy additional child-care sessions to provide a full-time place between 7.45am and 6.00pm (subject to availability).
We encourage parents to take up their education hours across the whole week wherever possible - 3 hours on a daily basis morning or afternoon - as we believe that this provides valuable continuity for children.
You can pay your invoice for your additional sessions by ParentPay. Please click here to access our Parent Pay page.
